Two Pounders Named to NEHL's All-League Team

May 22, 2007 — The NEHL announced individual award winners today, and Pounders forward Justin Thoel and defenseman Justin Todd were named to the end-of-the-season All-League team. Todd led the Pounders in goals and points this season, and finished the season in the league's top 10 in both categories. New England's Eric Lind, a Pittsburgh Penguins prospect, was named the NEHL's Most Valuable Player, and Stephen Seeger, who coached New England to the NEHL's title, was named Coach of the Year.

Another Pounder Promoted to UHL's Chicago Hounds

March 22, 2007 — The Danville Pounders are pleased to announce that John Burton has been called up by the United Hockey League's Chicago Hounds. Burton had a short stint in the UHL last season with the Flint Generals. "John has been waiting for this chance all season, and I am glad he is going to get an opportunity to prove himself again," Pounders head coach and general manager Cameron Estes said. During the 2006-2007 campaign, Burton recorded 5 goals and 15 assists for the Pounders. The Hounds will play the Rockford Ice Hogs Friday night at home, and the Ft. Wayne Komets Sunday in Ft. Wayne. Pounders Lead NEHL All-Stars to Victory

March 18, 2007 — Pounders forward Justin Thoel and defenseman Justin Todd each scored goals, and Anthony Danielle added an assist, to lead the North Eastern Hockey League's All-Star Team to a 4-3 victory Sunday in Danbury, Connecticut. Todd is the league's third leading scorer (behind New England's Scott Horvath and Chris Seifert) with 23 goals. Mike McMahon is the league's sixth leading scorer with 18 goals, and Evan Affleck rounds out the top ten with 12 goals.

Seven Pounders Named NEHL All-Stars

March 10, 2007 — Seven Pounders were named to the North Eastern Hockey League's All-Star team this week: Evan Affleck, Anthony Danielle, John Hutcheon, Dan Malloy, Jimmy Pellegrino, Justin Thoel, Justin Todd. In addition, Justin Todd - who has received Player of the Week honors three times this season - was named one of the all-star team's three captains.

Justin Todd Named Player of the Week for Third Time This Season

February 19, 2007 — Pounders forward Justin Todd was named the North Eastern Hockey League's Coca-Cola Player of the Week today for the third time this season. Todd had one goal and five assists Saturday night against Findlay in Danville. Todd shares the award with Findlay's Dan Isenhath who tallied three goals and four assists in two games this weekend.

Two Danville Pounders Promoted Up The Minor League Hockey Ladder in January

January 2007 — Two Danville Pounders were promoted up the minor league hockey ladder in January, bringing the total number of North Eastern Hockey League players reaching the next level to 11. Pounders captain Sean Nicholson was promoted to the UHL's Chicago Hounds. And Omar Torres II signed a contract with the Trelleborgs Vikings, a professional team in Sweden.

Pounders Captain Sean Nicholson Promoted to UHL's Chicago Hounds

January 26, 2007 — The Danville Pounders are pleased to announce that team captain Sean Nicholson has signed an extended contract with the United Hockey League's Chicago Hounds. Nicholson had been on a 14-day pro tryout contract.

Sean Nicholson, a Chicago, IL native, played junior hockey in Springfield, IL with the North American Hockey League's Springfield Jr. Blues. While playing for the Blues, Sean broke his back. "Three years ago my doctors said I would never play again," Nicholson said. "To come back now and have an opportunity to play at this level is a huge accomplishment."

Nicholson began the season with the North Eastern Hockey League's Danville Pounders. In six games with the Pounders, Nicholson had 7 goals and 9 assists. "Sean has this fire in his eyes when he is on the ice," Danville Pounders general manager and head coach Cameron Estes said. "I am excited for Sean. Another Danville Pounder Promoted

January 15, 2007 — The Danville Pounders are pleased to announce that Omar Torres II has signed a contract with the Trelleborgs Vikings, a professional team in Sweden. Torres becomes the second Danville Pounders player to be promoted this season. Last Friday, Sean Nicholson signed a contract with the United Hockey League's Chicago Hounds. "I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to play overseas," Torres said. Torres signed with the North Eastern Hockey League's Danville Pounders at the beginning of the 2006-2007 season. Torres left Monday for Sweden where he will join his new team this week.
